There are different length clubs which makes the head move faster(longer) or slower(shorter). The longer clubs move faster at the club head and that will put a lot of force on the ball.
There are also many manufactures. They all make their clubs different. On some you can change the center of gravity by moving magnetic weights. If you are a beginner you shouldn't be picky, though.
These manufacturers also make different balls for different feels. There are soft, medium, and hard balls. I prefer soft balls because if I hit the ball in the wrong spot on the club, it won't send a painful shock wave through to my hands.
You can watch golf on T.V. There is the PGA tour and the LPGA tour. The PGA is on the most, but they are both on. There are many pros like Tiger Woods, Phil Mikelson, and Jim Fyurik.
