as 3 lives? Also regular donating reduces several risk factors
for heart disease!! But the real reward is that it may give
someone a second chance to know Christ and salvation. Our next
blood drive will be Sunday May 18th from 9am to 12:30pm. If you
have questions contact Blood Services at 843-6227
THANKS
Dear Friends in Christ, Thank you for the prayers, calls, cards
and notes of encouragement while I was in the hospital for my
recent surgery. Both Kenneth and I appreciated your prayers &
kind thoughts. Again, many thanks. All is well with us.
In His Service, Ruth Slick.
THANKS
Pastor Transition Fund - Thanks to your generous gifts we have
raised the funding needed for pastor's move.
SYMPHONY UNDER THE STARS
Save the coupon from your April PNM bill to BUY ONE, GET ONE
FREE for Friday, May 30th at 8 p.m. Turn in your coupons in the
church office.
WALKING
Walking is one of the best exercises a person can take and is
strongly recommended by the American Heart Association. The
Board of Church Properties would like to offer an opportunity to
church members to accomplish an entire week’s walk in only one
day! The Church lawn needs to be cut once a week either on
Friday or Saturday. There is no pushing or bagging just walking
behind a self propelled mower. If interested contact Phil
Pelzman or Emery Postenrieder.
RARE ADOPTION OPPORTUNITY
We have 5 (count them, five) adorable kittens born March 18th
who will be ready for adoption during May. All were raised in a
fine Lutheran foster care home. Call Lee Swanger for more
information or to arrange for a pre-adoption visit…Please help
us find loving homes for five of God’s precious gifts.
THE ANNUAL LUTHERAN BASEBALL NIGHT
will be Friday May 16, with the game at 7 p.m. There will be a
tailgate party again from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. A sign-up sheet is
in the narthex along with a poster showing the progress being
made at Lutherhaven. Requests for tickets should be made by May
5th if at all possible. See or contact Emery Postenrieder for
tickets and Gene Fischer, for details about Lutherhaven.
POTATO CHIP CANS NEEDED
Please save your Pringles or Lays
cans (the tall cans & lids) for the Blue Star Mothers group.
That group does arts and crafts
projects for service men and women. Bring your collected cans to
church and look for a box in the narthex. See D'Lorah Gothard if
you have any questions.
HELP THE MATZKES & BREAK THE BEHNKENS!
(their airline baggage allowance, that is)
Our missionaries, Tim & Martha Matzke, can’t get many supplies
in the Solomon Islands (where there aren’t Wal-Marts, Staples or
Starbucks and the “supermarket” is outdoors). Our Board of
Missions is asking for your help! Check the narthex for a list
of items needed. Packages from the U. S. can take 6 months—if
they get there at all. Sign up for items you will buy and bring
them as soon as possible. May 10 will be the deadline so the
Behnken family can pack them for their trip to visit the Matzkes
at the end of that week. A box will be available in the narthex
to hold donations or you can give items to Jim or Annalisa. If
you have questions or need more information, please call Jim.
Vacation Bible School
The dates have been set for our 2008 Vacation Bible School -
July 14th - 18th. Our theme is Friendship Trek: Jesus, our
Forever Friend. Check out the board in the Narthex. This board
displays our VBS supply list. Follow these simple steps in
joining the VBS team. Step 1: peruse the cards with items needed
listed on them. Step 2: take a card and using your own leg work
and cash, shop and purchase that item. Step 3: bring the item
and card back to church and place them on the table. Step 4:
Inhale deeply and smile :0) you just helped make VBS possible.
Thanks! Please, direct your VBS questions to Leslie Helge,
