HELP OUR SCHOOL WIN $1000
Starting February 20 through March 9 the Lutheran Church Extension Fund will be giving away $5000 to Lutheran Schools. Help our school win $1000 by taking the `Are You Smarter Than A Lutheran School Student?’ quiz online at www.rmdkids.org between February 20th and March 9th. Students, parents and grandparents can all participate. The quiz is 10 questions long – please encourage your family to participate.
VALENTINE GRAMS
Once again the 8th grade class will be taking orders for Valentine grams to be delivered to students on Tuesday, February 14th. There are different options to choose from which are on display in the school office. Last day to order is Wednesday, 2/8/12.
OPEN HOUSE - 2/7/12
We will be hosting a School Open House on Tuesday, February 7. Please invite any friends or neighbors who might be interested in our school. The hours for the Open House will be from 9:00 am – 11:00 am and 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to come and meet the teachers.
FELLOWSHIP MEAL - 2/8/12
The Fellowship Meal on Wed., Feb. 8 at 5:45 p.m. in the parish hall is hosted by the Albuquerque Rescue Mission Learning Center. For the free will door offering, they are asking you to bring new or gently used mouse pads, small thumb/flash drives (256 MB-1GB) or cash donations for their learning center. Come for good food, fellowship and support this way to help out a very deserving local charity.
TALENT SHOW & CHILI COOK-OFF - 2/12/12
Sign up now for the 28th annual Chili Cook-off and Talent show to be held at Christ Lutheran on Sunday, February 12. If you have a special chili recipe please come share it by making a pot of chili and sharing your favorite soup. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Pots of chili just need to be brought in at 5:15 on Sunday and judging starts at 5:30. After the chili judging there is a talent show. If you sing, dance, tell jokes, play an instrument, whistle, etc. please share it with us that night.
PTL MEETING - 2/15/12
The next PTL meeting will be held on Wednesday, 2/15 at 6:30 pm. We will have students who have graduated from Christ Lutheran at this meeting who will be discussing the transition to high school.
NEW GIFT CARD REBATE PROGRAM
At the Open House last Wednesday Christ Lutheran introduced a new gift card program where you can earn a rebate for every gift card purchased. The rebate can be used to make payments to the technology fee, school registration, school tuition, lunches, etc. for the next school year. You have the choice where you want your rebate from the gift cards you purchased to go towards. Please see LuAnn Blea for all the information. This is a great way to fund our technology needs and help you too.
STUDENT REFERRAL PROGRAM
EXCITING NEWS!!! We are going to announce a new student referral program at the PTL meeting on Wednesday, January 18th at 6:30 pm. It is our way of saying THANK YOU for your loyalty and for spreading the Good News about what is happening at Christ Lutheran School. We know you are our best ambassadors and want to reward you for it – STAY TUNED!
CHAPEL
This month’s chapel offering will be for diabetes research. On March 7 we will be holding a Jump for Diabetes event. Packets of information will be going home soon. All money raised from chapel offerings and the Jump for Diabetes event will go to diabetes research.
REGISTRATION FOR 2012/2013
Registration for returning students and siblings of current students has started. In order to reserve your child’s spot for next year you must return the forms and a deposit of $50 for each child. We will open up registration to new families on February 13th so don’t delay.
TEXTING IMPORTANT MESSAGES
If you would like to receive a text message from school regarding weather delays/closing, emergencies, or last-minute messages you will need to log on to your Fast Direct Account at www.fastdir.com/clcs. Click on Display parent Data, enter cell phone number and select your carrier, and go to the bottom of the page and click on Change Data as shown above. Then click on the box to allow text messages and click on Change Data as shown above again. You can then have Fast Direct send you a trial text message. Text messaging is only one way; from school to you.
SNOW DAY INFORMATION
Christ Lutheran will announce on channels 4, 7, and 13 any delays or cancellations due to weather. We will also send a message through Fast Direct and texting. Delays and closings will be based on general road conditions in Albuquerque. Parents will also need to use their best judgment regarding road conditions in their particular area. If school is delayed two hours, extended care will also be delayed two hours (start at 9:00 am rather than 7:00 am). There will be no extended care if school is cancelled due to weather or for any other unscheduled reason. School will still end at 3:30 pm when we have a 2 hour delay.
When school is delayed for 2 hours due to weather please call the school office if your child needs a hot lunch. We still need to call lunches in by 9:00 am so you must call the office at 884-3876 ext. 100 or fast direct LuAnn before 9:00 am.
